Participants will learn the fundamental language of the drum and how to create meaningful dialogue\, along with essential playing and listening techniques. We usually take a deep-dive into the songs of the dun duns and how those parts and the djembe parts fit together to create multi-layered rhythms. DESCRIPTION:Join us as we celebrate and honor Beltane at Hammonasset Beach State Park. The wheel of the year turns. It’s believed that many ancients recognized only two seasons –Summer and Winter\, this being the beginning of Summer (or the height of Spring) in the Northern Hemisphere. Some use the calendar in observance\, others look to the flowers and other signs of nature to acknowledge it’s arrival.\nCome to drum\, to move\, or simply to be. All ages\, abilities and genders are welcome. If you have a favorite instrument you’d like to play\, feel free to bring it. A limited number of drums will be available.\nWe’ll be at our usual location behind/beyond Meigs Point Nature Center. Donation requested.
